Admit it – we all know someone who needs a good slap now and then. In the cast of the May I Ask For One Final Thing? anime, it is Scarlet’s fiancé who is cruisin’ for a bruisin’, and she is just the noblewoman to give it to him. The anime adaptation has been confirmed as coming to Crunchyroll in 2025 and it looks like exactly what we’re looking for.

Based on Nana Otori and Sora Hoonoki’s manga and light novel series, May I Ask for One Final Thing? is about Scarlet, a noblewoman whose fiancé, Kyle, suddenly calls off their engagement in the middle of a ball. Accused of being a bully and dubbed a “Villainess,” she is denounced and publicly humiliated. Of course, the only response available to her is to ask Kyle for one final favor – to allow her to punch him right in his smug face. Scarlet is described by the manga as an “elegant yet rebellious fighter who doesn’t let anyone take advantage of her,” which sounds like a fantastic take on the usual action manga.

Sometimes we are after courtly intrigue and subtle political machinations, but sometimes we just want to see the bad guys get punched so hard they can’t think straight for a week and that is what this anime looks like it is going to deliver. Folks looking for a comedic take on the action anime genre like One Punch Man might be a little disappointed by the final product – the trailer, like the manga the anime is based on, plays things pretty straight. May I Ask For One Final Thing? is simply about a woman who, when scorned, wants to punch the heck out of the people responsible.

The May I Ask For One Final Thing? anime is due to stream on Crunchyroll sometime in 2025, though no further release date has been given.
