Nico Robin's live-action One Piece actress confirms that she has finished filming her season 2 scenes while sporting the character's iconic hair

The Netflix live-action One Piece series is due out in 2025, but the Nico Robin actress probably only had a few scenes to film.

Waiting is always the hardest part of being a fan of something, but One Piece fans are getting a lot of practice lately. Both the manga and the anime are on hiatus right now and there is still no word on when season two of Netflix’s live-action series will be released. There has been a small update on that front, though, as Nico Robin’s actor confirmed that she has finished filming her scenes in Cape Town – and gave a little peek at what she might look like in-character at the same time.

Lera Abova, who was cast as Miss All Sunday aka Nico Robin earlier this year, posted on Instagram that she had finished filming on the live-action One Piece series. “issa wrap! Last manic sunday for now. Capetown has been magical” she wrote along with a series of photos of her on an airplane. However, keen-eyed fans will notice that Abova is still sporting at least one iconic feature of Nico Robin – her hair.

Like everyone else in One Piece, Nico Robin’s appearance changes pretty frequently in the manga. During the Alabasta arc, which is what season two of the Netflix show will lead up to. While Lera Abova’s hair isn’t as smooth and shiny as her anime counterpart in these pictures (she’s traveling so who can blame her), it is clear that she’s got the same style as Nico Robin. The fringe and long bob are both there; all she’s missing is the cowboy hat to complete the look.

Does this mean that the Netflix One Piece show is nearly done filming? Not necessarily. While Nico Robin is a major character in the series, she only has a few appearances through the end of the Drum Island arc, which is where season two is expected to end. Lera Abova probably only had a few scenes to shoot this time around. In season three she’ll play a much bigger part in the action, though. That's if Netflix doesn't change things up - they've already made some pretty significant changes to the pacing of the series, after all.

One Piece season two has been filming since July 2024, so we it could be wrapping soon. Even if it does, we don't have a release window for the season beyond sometime in 2025. Most likely, it will be near the end of the year before Luffy and the Straw Hats are back in action on Netflix.
