One of the most exciting anime in recent years has been Oshi no Ko, the idol-themed murder mystery series that involves a reincarnated OB-GYN. It is bright and colorful and one of the most cutting critiques of the Japanese entertainment business you’ll find in anime, so we’re very excited to see it returning to our screens for a second season.
If you’re wondering how to tackle this intensely compelling anime series, our Oshi no Ko will give you everything you need to know before you start watching.
How to watch Oshi no Ko in order
Based on the manga by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, Oshi no Ko is the story of Aqua and Ruby, the twin children of famous idol Ai Hoshino. However, Aqua is the reincarnation of Dr. Gorou Amamiya, the OB-GYN who was to deliver Ai’s twins but was killed by her stalker when she came into the hospital. When Ai is killed, Aqua enters the Japanese entertainment industry with the sole mission of finding his new mother’s killer.
It is a bizarre premise, but it works surprisingly well as a framing device. Despite the convoluted setup, most of Oshi no Ko takes place in chronological order, so you don’t need to worry about jumping back and forth between episodes.
The best Oshi no Ko watch order is:
Where can you watch Oshi no Ko?
With just two seasons of Oshi no Ko out so far, it is pretty easy to stream the anime from start to finish. Season one and season two of Oshi no Ko are both on the anime streaming service HIDIVE. Is more Oshi no Ko anime on its way?
You don’t have to worry about Oshi no Ko ending after the second season because the manga is still ongoing. How long that will remain the case isn’t entirely clear, though. Without going into any spoilers, the Oshi no Ko manga certainly feels like it is getting close to its conclusion, which makes it the perfect start reading it.
Where can I read Oshi no Ko?
Don’t want to wait for the anime to catch up with the manga of Oshi no Ko? You’re in luck because all 150+ chapters of the manga are available for free on the Manga Plus app. The only caveat is that you can only read each chapter once if you are on the basic plan.
