It is a good time to be a Sailor Moon fan, friends. Not only is the much-improved Viz dub currently airing on American TV for the first time, but we’re finally getting the epic conclusion of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal. Netflix has announced that the two-part Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie is coming to the streaming service later in 2024.
This final pair of films wraps up the Sailor Moon Crystal anime series, serving as the fifth and final season. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie is set to arrive on Netflix on August 22, 2024, much to the delight of Sailor Moon fans around the world. Both movies are expected to debut on the streaming platform on that day, just over a year since they were released in Japan.
The announcement from Netflix didn’t include any localization details, but we expect it to follow the release of Sailor Moon Eternal in 2021, which included an English dub featuring the same cast as the Viz dub in 2014. Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie will adapt the Stars Arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s manga, which is the final arc in the original run. Like the rest of the Sailor Moon Crystal anime, this is a more streamlined, filler-free version of the story that is more faithful to the original manga than the original anime.
Both parts of Sailor Moon Cosmos: The Movie will be available to stream on Netflix on August 22, 2024. Details of a potential dub of the films are still pending.
Here's how to watch the entire Sailor Moon franchise in order.
