If you thought Solo Leveling was going to end with Jin-woo’s story, you don’t know how things go with popular anime and manga franchises. Even as we wait for the second season of the hit anime to be released, we already have a release date for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, the sequel manhwa to the original story.
Kakao Page, the platform that published the original Solo Leveling in its Webtoon services, announced earlier this week on social media that the highly anticipated Solo Leveling: Ragnarok would be debuting on August 1, 2024. Chugong is not returning as the main writer for the new series; instead, he is handing the reigns over to Daul while artist JIN replaces DUBU (both from REDICE Studio) to draw the story after DUBU’s untimely death in 2022.
The webnovel of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok began publishing in April 2023, so we have a pretty good idea of what happens in its story. It follows the son of Jin-woo, Su-ho, as he comes to terms with inheriting his father’s powers and investigates why Gates have begun to open up all around the Earth. Su-ho is once again chosen as the Player by the System, just like his father, and able to level up his Hunter abilities, making him humanity’s only hope against this new threat.
The manhwa adaptation of Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will debut on August 1, 2024 on the Kakao Page webtoon service. Hopefully, an English translation follows soon after so we can see what happens after the end of Jin-woo’s story.
