Since 2018, actor Chance Perdomo has been a fixture on streaming services. His career, which was only just getting started, was already full of memorable supporting and starring roles, but tragically, the young star passed away on March 30, 2024 at the age of 27 after being involved in a motorcycle accident. Local authorities have said that no one else was involved in the crash.
Perdomo’s breakout role came in 2018 when he was cast as Ambrose Spellman in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. In it, he played a warlock who was bound to the Spellman house and, as a result, became both an advisor and a partner-in-crime during Sabrina’s misadventures. That same year, he earned a BAFTA nomination for his role in the TV film Killed by My Debt.
More recently, Chance Perdomo starred in Amazon Prime Video’s Gen V, playing Andre Anderson in The Boy’s spin-off series. The Gen V producers issued a joint statement where they described Chance as “always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person.” Production on season two of Gen V has paused indefinitely due to Perdomo’s death.
There is a sense with Chance Perdomo that his was a career cut short just when it was beginning to pick up momentum. At just 27, he not only had multiple high-profile roles to his name but he had shown the ability to switch seamlessly between comedic and dramatic scenes even in the same show. His acting talent and natural charisma should have seen him grace our screens for years to come. As we grieve the body of work that he could have produced, our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time.
