The original name of DC's summer event Absolute Power would've connected it to a nearly-forgotten DC TV show

I could've used a Vanessa Hudgens appearance in DC's Absolute Power

The flagship comic of DC Comics entire line is the current summer event series Absolute Power. In it, Suicide Squad boss Amanda Waller has found a way to rob all superheroes of their powers - leaving a powerless Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash and more to learn to fight without thier powers (I bet Batman has a few lessons) to restore the natural order of things.

And in the DC Absolute Power panel at this year's Comic-Con International: San Diego, series editor Paul Kaminski shared a little tidbit that has a big meaning inside the halls of DC - if you know what to look for.

According to Kaminski, the original title of Absolute Power was a a spot-on name for the series: Powerless. You can see how that might be too on the-nose for the name of a series about DC's heroes without power, but it does recall the nearly-forgotten live-action DC sitcom Powerless, which aired in early 2017.

In NBC's Powerless, Vanessa Hudgens leads a group of researchers who create products to help ordinary humans live in a world populated by superheroes. If you don't remember it, you're not alone - although you might want to rewatch it for the Adam West cameo.

Kaminski didn't say why DC didn't go with the name Powerless, but it could also be becasue in 2004 Marvel Cimics had a series of the same name with a very similar premise where the Marvel Universe is re-imagined with all the major superheroes - just without their powers.
