A big part of Batman's whole deal is being where you least expect him. City Hall? He's in the air ducts. Gotham Zoo? Check behind the lions. Public bathrooms? Best not commit crimes in there. One place we certainly never expected to see him, though, was inside the confines of a children's candy package. But thanks to an all-new collaboration between DC, candymaker Kinder, and collectible champs Funko, that's exactly where you'll find him next.
Don't misunderstand me, though, it's not just the Dark Knight that'll be making his way into your favorite candies very soon. As announced by License Global, characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Aquaman, and many more will also be showing up alongside Kinder's sweet treats in the very near future, as the collaboration between the superhero publishing titan and global candy brand takes two exciting forms.
First, folks purchasing Kinder Joys can expect to find one of 16 (!!) brand-new mini Funko POP! figures inside their egg-shaped chocolate packages. Second, if you'd rather stick with the traditional Kinder chocolate bars, you can expect to find one of eight trading cards featuring a DC character drawn in the Funko POP! style. In both cases, the limited-edition treats will come wrapped in DC-inspired packaging.
"DC is a global giant," says Kinder's marketing VP Amber Hansinger of the collab, "and our Kinder Joy Limited-Edition DC Funko POP! Eggs let fans connect with some of their favorite characters in a fun and exciting way."
It's true, unless of course you plan on committing some sort of Silver Age crime crime around the time you purchase a candy bar. If that's the case, I'd stay away from Kinder if I were you. Otherwise, you're likely to upon up your chocolate and find a one-way ticket to Arkham Asylum.
