The DC Comics timeline is "breaking", with fallout coming across DC Comics line says architect Mark Waid

"Everything has fallen apart" in DC's timeline and continuity says Mark Waid, thanks to villains Darkseid and Gorilla Grodd

With time travel at the heart of writer Mark Waid's upcoming 'We Are Yesterday' crossover event between Justice League Unlimited and Batman/Superman: World's Finest - and the upcoming New History of the DC Universe (also written by Waid) aiming to realign the DC timeline - we asked the writer all about it, from how it'll impact Batman and Superman to... well, everyone.

"It does affect [Batman and Superman] in the short term. In the long term, there are all kinds of paradoxes happening because time is breaking as a result of the Darkseid energy and Grodd’s shenanigans," says Waid, referring to the events of DC's 2024 All In Special #1, which created the Absolute DC line and set up the 'We Are Yesterday' storyline. "Now, when you time travel or when you do something as big and extravagant as bringing the entire Legion of Doom to the present day, there's fallout and all sorts of things are happening. All sorts of things are happening in the time stream, and this is only making it worse."

Waid then cuts to the point and says "... it's kind of a moot because everything has fallen apart."

Good thing Waid and some fabulous artists are aiming to put it back together with the New History of the DC Universe series launching this June. There's also a DC Absolute/All In crossover planned for later in 2025, he's also teasing...

You can read Waid's full interview about Justice League Unlimited, 'We Are Yesterday,' and the upcoming New History of the DC Universe here. The 'We Are Yesterday' event begins April 16 with Batman/Superman: World's Finest #38, with the New History of the DC Universe beginning June 25.
