Just as Deadpool is making his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with this weekend's Deadpool & Wolverine, Marvel Comics has announced some bad news for Wade Wilson: He's being replaced by a younger model.

As announced during a closed-door retailers only panel here at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Deadpool's young daughter Eleanor 'Ellie' Camacho is going to be taking over the Deadpool name. The change is scheduled to happen in October's Deadpool #7 by Cody Ziglar and Rogê Antônio. According to Marvel Comics, Deadpool will die in the upcoming Marvel Comics, so Ellie is "taking up the mantle," according to the publisher. With no Merc with a Mouth to train her, she has the next best thing - Taskmaster.  Her first mission is simple: revenge for the death of her father. No word on who is killing Wade yet though.

"Deadpool is dead, long live Deadpool!" Is how Marvel is advertising the change. 

This isn't out of nowhere - years ago there Deadpool had a vision where Ellie became a hero in the year 2099. Look for this big change to happen October 2 in Deadpool #7.
