Image Comics' horror anthology The Silver Coin will return, promises creator Michael Walsh
"I've got all the scripts for the next arc," Walsh told fans asking about the series at ECCC 2025

The Pacific Northwest's premiere comic + pop culture show Emerald City Comic Con 2025 has come and gone, but if all you have are memories and regrets we got you covered. From a recap of all the big moments of the show, to VODs of all the panels from the Main Stage powered by Xfinity, and even details on the ECCC 2026 dates so you can do it all over again (or for the the first time).
It’s been more than two years since artist Michael Walsh has released an issue of The Silver Coin, his acclaimed horror anthology that sees him bring a new writer onboard each issue to tell a different tale of terror in a shared universe setting — but even as Walsh was talking up his upcoming Image Comics series Exquisite Corpses, he found time to share some good news for Silver Coin fans: the series is coming back, and work on it is far further along than you might expect.
“I am doing more Silver Coin, I promise,” Walsh said at ECCC 2025 in response to a fan question about the series, which released its last issue in October 2022. “I get a lot of people asking if I'm going to do more. I've got all the scripts for the next arc. Issue #20 is actually drawn already, and I am going to come back to it. So don't worry. It's coming back.”
The Mention of issue 20 being drawn is particularly notable, given that the last issue released was #15. Does that mean we have at least five issues drawn in their entirety, or are they being drawn out of order? (Given the anthology structure of the series, that’s not impossible — or even necessarily a problem.)
The new run of stories will feature “some of the best scripts that I've gotten for the series so far,” although Walsh purposefully didn’t share which writers were providing the latest scripts. (To date, writers have included Joshua Williamson, Ram V, Chip Zdarsky, Vita Ayala, Pornsak Pichetshote, and Jeff Lemire.) “It’s a really fun, really big arc of stories and really, like all of the arcs of Silver Coin, every story feels so wholly different and unique,” Walsh promised.
News of when the series will return will be forthcoming, he promised.
