Marvel Comics gives the Fantastic Four a 2-month break before a big 2025

A "scheduling issue" is giving the Fantastic Four comics a two-month vacation.

Fantastic Four is about to go from big to bigger in 2026 with the release of Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four. And as the comcis division works furiously on new Fantastic Four comics to go along side of it, they're taking a 8-week break in its usual monthly release of the Fantastic Four title before the big day.

Marvel Comics is delaying its ongoing Fantastic Four series over what the writer describes as "a scheduling issue." Fantastic Four #26 is scheduled for release October 8, and then the book will go on hiatus at least until December 2024. This scheduling plan comes after the FF series was not listed in the company's November 2024 schedule, leading some fans to assume the last of a new issue meant the series was in trouble. But we're told that's not the case.

"Seeing some concern about Fantastic Four, but don't worry!" tweets Fantastic Four writer Ryan North. "A scheduling issue kept us from the solicits in November but I promise there's lots more to come :) thank you everyone for the messages!"

Looking at the publishing schedule of Marvel Comics' Fantastic Four in recent months, and the potential issue becomes a little more clear. While Fantastic Four and most other Marvel ongoing comics are built to publish a new issue each month, this series publishing two issues in the month of August, and are planning for September's Fantastic Four #25 to be "extra large" - so much so that the publisher is raising the book's price by 25%.

This comes as the larger Marvel company plans to go big on the Fantastic Four in 2025, leading to July's Fantastic Four: FIrst Steps. Marvel Comics has teased some big events in store for the comics title in 2025 that aim to get readers excited - even readers like the movie's director Matthew Shakman.

"I’m not so much looking at the other movies. I’m looking at the comics themselves," Shakman told Inverse recent.y. "I’m a huge comic book fan. I’ve been a big fan of the Fantastic Four since I was a kid. So going back to Kirby and Lee and Byrne and following all the way up to what’s happening, certainly Hickman and Waid and Ryan North, what he’s been doing. I’m trying to figure out who these characters are to me and how to bring them to life in the best possible way, and that’s really where I’ve started and how we’ve approached it.”

The next issue of Fantastic Four is August 28's Fantastic Four #24, with the title doing two more issues then talking at least an 8-week break before more.
