DC's cowboy hero Jonah Hex isn't really a 'plays well with others' type, especially when they're in colorful costumes. But he has morals and he likes to fight, so he's joining DC's Justice League this summer.
Popverse's Jules Chin Greene was on hand at DC Comics' official Superman panel at WonderCon 2025, giving play-by-play for our members as the event went on. But for those of you who missed it, Justice League Unlimited writer Mark Waid revealed that the heroes will be welcoming a new member in June 25's Justice League Unlimited #8.

While details of his involvement are unknown, it fits in nicely with DC's marketing text for the issue - and seems to position Jonah Hex as part of a calvary in a time war between the League and longtime enemies the Legion of Doom.
"The Justice League Unlimited stands alone as a wave of chronal mayhem crashes on the shores of their Watchtower base…but all hope is not yet lost!" reads DC's solicitation text for Justice League Unlimited #8. "A last-minute mayday may just be enough to stem the tide…but for how long?"
At WonderCon, Waid says that Hex is joining the team - leading to the crowd's applause and an errant 'Thank you Mark!' chat - but he says the western hero will not be happy to be there.
Of course, this isn't the first time Jonah Hex has met the league - including a memorable crossover in the animated series that inside Waid's Justice League Unlimted, the 2004-2006 series Justice League Unlimited. In an episode titled 'The Once and Future Thing, Part One: Weird Western Tales', Hex and some other DC western heroes joins with the JLU to death Tobias Manning aka Terra-Man.
Justice League Unlimited goes on sale June 25.
