We all knew it was coming but it is still hard to believe the ending of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga is nearly here. One of the best-selling Shonen manga in recent years is reaching its dramatic and potentially explosive conclusion at the end of September with Chapter 271, as confirmed by Jujutsu Kaisen’s creator Gege Akutami in a recent livestream.
Akutami announced in December 2023 that the end of Jujutsu Kaisen was coming sometime in 2024, though they were appropriately vague on the details at the time. All he said at the time was that it would likely be the last Jump Fiesta where Jujutsu Kaisen was still in serialization. That theory was confirmed during a live stream of Weekly Shonen Jump news on August 19, where it was confirmed that the Jujutsu Kaisen manga will end on September 30, 2024 at the end of the Shibuya Showdown arc. The announcement comes just weeks after My Hero Academia’s manga ended in the most perfect and bittersweet way, leaving high expectations for Jujutsu Kaisen’s manga to live up to.
Those who have been following the manga will note that the final confrontation has been in the works for a while. In fact, the next chapter – Chapter 267 – is set to be the climax of the story, giving four more chapters for Akutami to resolve some of the lingering plotlines. The biggest question that fans want to see answered is what is going to happen with Sukuna and Yuji as the King of Curses makes his move to be free of his teenage vessel for good.
The final chapter of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga will be published on September 30, 2024 as part of Weekly Shonen Jump issue 44.
