A Kamen Rider & Marvel crossover is something Marvel Comics' boss wants to see

Could Kamen Rider race into the Marvel Universe? C.B. Cebulski thinks so.

If you think about it, the Kamen Rider franchise is a perfect fit for the Marvel Universe. The long-running Japanese tokusatsu series features an insect themed hero….which Marvel has in spades. The hero is also known for riding a motorcycle, much like Marvel’s Ghost Rider. In fact, the various protagonists of Kamen Rider wouldn’t look out of place alongside the Avengers.

Somebody must have been thinking about this, because during a panel at Osaka Comic Con, Marvel editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski was asked about a potential Kamen Rider/Marvel Universe crossover. While Cebulski was intrigued by the idea, he said there were no plans.

“I love Kamen Rider. It’s not as well known in the United States, but maybe in the future if Kamen Rider and Marvel did a crossover together, more Americans would be interested in watching more Kamen Rider.”

Technically, Marvel has produced a Kamen Rider comic before. In 1996 Marvel published a Masked Rider comic. The comic was based on the Fox Kids television series, which repurposed footage from Kamen Rider to tell a new story spliced with new American footage.

Still, it’s been 28 years since Masked Rider #1 was released. Perhaps it’s past time for another Kamen Rider project. Admit it, who wouldn’t want to see a race between Kamen Rider and Ghost Rider?
