DC's New Gods joins 'All In' initiative with a new take on Jack Kirby's classic Fourth World heroes (and villains)

For the first time in nearly 30 years, Jack Kirby's New Gods are getting their own ongoing DC Comics series.
Announced during Saturday's 'What's Happening in the DC Multiverse' panel here at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, DC's New Gods will be a new take on the classic Fourth World characters - coming as part of DC's 'All In' initiative which begins this October. Scheduled to launch this December, New Gods will be written by newly-exclusive DC writer Ram V - fresh off his Detective Comics run (which ends in September).
New Gods will be illustrated by Evan Cagle, who illustrated many covers for Ram V's Detective Comics run. While DC is framing New Gods as Cagle's "DC series debut," Cagle drew Catwoman #32 (which Ram V wrote), as well as portions of the Superman & the Authority series.
(To prepare for their New Gods run, I highly recommend V and Cagle's creator-owned series Dawnrunner.)
A New Gods ongoing series is long-overdue, but given Fourth World villain Darkseid is the big bad of DC's 'All In' initiative, it would seem New Gods would have a central place in the opposition against that. As you can see from the New Gods announcement illustration by Pete Woods, New Gods will feature Orion, Big Barda, Mister Miracle, the All-Father, Metron, and Lightray.
