Marvel wants to get fans from movie theaters into comic stores with new Premier Collections line (and Daredevil, Black Panther, The Winter Soldier, and more)

A new collected editions line launching in February 2025 is intended to be a new place for fans to start when reading Marvel comics

Sure, everyone knows who Daredevil, Black Panther, and Captain America through their appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — but how do movie and TV fans make the jump to reading about their favorite heroes in comic book form? At New York Comic Con 2024, Marvel has announced a new collected editions line intended to make that transition so much easier.

The new imprint, Marvel Premier Collection, will launch in 2025 as what the publisher is describing as “the perfect entry point into the Marvel Universe or for the most definitive and quintessential stories behind Marvel’s most popular characters” that are “ideal for Marvel fans across comics, film, television, games, and beyond.” The first four titles in the line have been announced, and they’re unsurprisingly tying in to big Marvel Studios projects due in 2025:

  • Daredevil: Born Again by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, complete with a new foreword by Miller and an afterword by the onscreen DD himself, Charlie Cox
  • Black Panther: A Nation Under Our Feet by Ta-Nehisi Coates, Brian Stelfreeze and Chris Sprouse, collecting the entire storyline into one edition for the first time
  • Captain America: Winter Soldier by Ed Brubaker and Steve Epting, containing the complete Winter Soldier saga ahead of the character’s starring role in 2025’s Thunderbolts*
  • Fantastic Four: Solve Everything, which Marvel describes as “an all-new streamlined version of the Fantastic Four run for the first time, personally curated by author Jonathan Hickman.” Hickman is joined on creative chores by Dale Eaglesham, Neil Edwards, and Steve Epting.

“We’ve all heard the age-old questions: ‘Where do I start? What is that one run you just cannot miss? What should I read before or after the next big movie or television show to have the best experience?’ The Marvel Premier Collection program is our answer to each of those questions,” Marvel Comics and Franchise president Dan Buckley said in a statement. “Comics are at the heart of everything we do at Marvel, so this collection will be our go-to publishing line for any and all fans looking for a way into — or further into — the Marvel Universe. These titles will not be the only place to start of course, but they will be one of the best.”

Marvel’s new line arrives in the wake of DC’s launch of two separate lines of collected editions acting as an entry point for its comic books: Compact Comics, which collects evergreen storylines into $9.99 paperback editions, and DC Finest, which brings expanded runs together for extended editions.

The first two releases from the Marvel Premier Collection will arrive in bookstores February 2025.
