Hip hop and American comics have influenced each other for decades now, and this relationship is set to continue with a brand-new variant cover from Marvel Comics featuring the Notorious B.I.G. breaking up a fight between Deadpool and Wolverine for Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII #3. The release of the cover celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G.'s seminal debut album, Ready to Die.
The cover is drawn by artist Salvador Larrocca, and depicts Biggie sagely keeping Wade and Logan apart as they stand beneath the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge. Biggie wears a white suit that would make the Kingpin himself think twice about ever setting up shop in Brooklyn. While Biggie Smalls doesn't appear in the story of Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII #3, which is written by Joe Kelly and drawn by Adam Kubert, Larrocca's outstanding cover is a celebration of the Notorious B.I.G.'s cultural impact in Brooklyn and beyond.
This variant cover is now available for purchase at hustl.agency and is limited to 3000 copies. The cover is being sold for $30. Additionally, hustl. has a "spotlight virgin variant" cover that features the black and white inks of Larocca's background, available for purchase at $50 and limited to 1000 copies.
This is not the first time that the Notorious B.I.G. has appeared on the cover of a Marvel Comic. Previously, he appeared on a limited edition variant cover of Alyssa Wong and Martin Coccolo's Deadpool #1 in 2022. Drawn by Ken Lashley, Biggie's appearance on the Deadpool #1 variant was also in association with hustl.
In addition, hustl. has shepherded the appearances of other rappers like Eminem and Fat Joe on variant covers. The Notorious B.I.G. cover of Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII #3 is expected to ship within 4-6 weeks, as per the cover's listing on hustl.'s site.
Here's how to watch Deadpool in order.
