Imagine Fight Club but as a '90s shojo anime with motorbikes, and you have Fell Hound's S.I.R.

You can find true love in the most surprising of places. We recently interviewed a couple who met in line at New York Comic Con, for example... But now we've found a story of something even more out there - love in a motorcycle combat arena.

That's the story behind the new comic book series S.I.R. from writer/artist Fell Hound and the gang at BOOM! Box, an imprint of BOOM! Studios. Scheduled to launch this August, S.I.R. (which stands for Seismic Ironclash Roulette) is about two high school sweethearts on the rocks who find each other again through motorcycle jousting.

“My favorite genre on the planet is romantic dueling in the likes of Revolutionary Girl Utena and Gundam: The Witch from Mercury," says Fell Hound in the announcement. "So naturally that manifests itself into re-imagining Fight Club as a 90s shojo anime on motorbikes!"

S.I.R. is coming from the Chinese-Canadian cartoonist Fell Hound, whose debut comic Commander Rao earned her awards and nominations - and propelled her quickly into doing work for IDW Publishing and Natasha Alterici.

"S.I.R. is a story about fighting for true love in the motorcycle combat ring, while fending off your inner demons with the blazing headlights of genuine human connection," Hound says. "

S.I.R. #1 (of 5) goes on sale August 14, and is available for pre-order now through your local comic shop. Fell Hound draws the entire series (and the main cover art!), with variants planned from Alessio Zonno and Paulina Ganucheau.
