"THE ALL-NEW...SPIDER-GIRL?!"
Woah, calm down there, official Marvel press release, we can hear you. Not to say that your news isn't pretty exciting - that is, the news of a brand new Marvel character bearing the Spider-Girl moniker coming to the pages of Marvel comics this fall... Okay, maybe there's good reason to shout.
Announced at the Diamond Retailer Launch at San Diego Comic Con 2024 on Friday afternoon, the new Spider-Girl will make her first appearance in Spider-Boy #12, which is written by Dan Slott and drawn by Paco Medina. While we didn't get much in the way of details, Marvel's announcement of a new addition to the Spider-family is enough to get fans' eyebrows raised. Read their official press release (the rest of it, anyway) to learn more:
"THE ALL-NEW...SPIDER-GIRL?! We were NOT kidding! After the recent status quo shake-up, Spider-Boy's life really will NEVER be the same again! In light of what happened, maybe it's time for Bailey Briggs to be someone else's sidekick. Get ready Daredevil, because here comes The 'Boy Without Fear'! Also in this issue: Bullseye and the secretest secret character of them all."
"Secretest secret character"? It's gonna be hard to beat a reveal like this - unless maybe Spider-Girl is that secret character? We're going to have to wait a couple months to find out; Spider-Boy #12 goes on sale October 23.
Oh, before you go: Popverse recently reported on the somewhat miraculous 1998-2009 run of Spider-Girl; check it out if you want a cool story about a beloved character. And who knows? Maybe a character just as marvelous and beloved is on her way.
