While we’re all waiting for the (emotionally devastating) third season of Spy x Family to arrive, we’ve all got the perfect opportunity to catch up with the manga. Unfortunately, the manga’s current hiatus has been extended a few more weeks. Like One Piece’s Eiichiro Oda, Endo Tatsuya’s health has led to a longer break than he wanted, but there is a bit of good news coming up just before the holidays.

Shueisha posted on the Shonen Jump + social media that the chapter that had been scheduled for December 9, 2024 had been pushed back “due to Endo Tatsuya-sensei’s poor health.” This is unfortunately not uncommon among mangaka, who often work long hours under stressful conditions to meet rapid deadlines from publishers. Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter has become famous for its long hiatuses while he deals with chronic health issues. His health has become such a worry that he has already made plans for how the series will end if he dies unexpectedly.

There is a bit of good news here, though. The next chapter of Spy x Family will be out on December 23, 2024, giving us something fresh to read as we bring in the holiday season. There is nothing to currently suggest that Spy x Family will be going on the kind of extended hiatus that has plagued other manga over the years. We’re hopeful that the health concerns that have led to this current delay are short-lived and that Endo Tatsuya gets the rest that he needs. For the sake of world peace.
