The working week are wolves at the door (literally) in Oni Press's new 2025 graphic novel The Lost Sunday
Created by Romanian creator Ileana Surducan, Oni Press's summer 2025 graphic novel tries to find free time and joy in a world where that's been locked away (entirely)

For those of us who feel as if the week can be overwhelming to deal with sometimes, some solace can be found in the knowledge that it could be worse. At least we’re not being attacked by wolves personifying each day of the week, while our one chance at rest has been locked up by a mean old woman, as Ileana Surducan’s upcoming all-ages Oni Press graphic novel, The Lost Sunday.
The new graphic novel from the Romanian creator follows Nina, a girl who lives in a town beset by six angry wolves, known as Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Each day in the town is filled with mundane, tiring activities, and everyone dreams of the mythical day of rest… except that day was stolen by a witch years earlier and hidden away for good. Unless, of course, Nina can venture out and rescue Sunday for the good of the town.
Surducan was inspired by fairy tales and folklore for the project, and said in a statement provided by the publisher, “I hope children will be delighted by this colorful journey into a land of magic, filled with whimsical creatures, strange trials, and lessons about kindness to all, yourself included. And I hope grown-ups might see a story that shines a light on a very present-day problem — the quest for free time — that offers a glimpse of hope: to strike the perfect, delicate balance between work and relaxation."
(No, you feel far too seen by the comment about trying to find free time.)
The Lost Sunday won’t be released until June 2025, but you don’t have to wait that long for a chance to see inside the book — just check out the gallery below.
