Umbrella Academy is being revived after Netflix finale as a comic (again), with new series bringing back the Sparrows from season 3

The Umbrella Academy: Part B goes on sale in June and follows on from the chaotic ending to Hotel Oblivion, bringing in The Sparrows from season 3 of the Netflix show.

Did you find yourself slightly underwhelmed by the ending of Netflix’s Umbrella Academy series? It went in some strange directions due to the final season getting shortened, so plenty of us would love to see more of our favorite dysfunctional superpowered family. Thankfully, The Umbrella Academy story is continuing as the comics are coming back for a new storyline this summer.

Titled The Umbrella Academy: Part B, this new comic from Dark Horse Comics brings series creator Gerard Way and illustrator Gabriel Bá back together. Described by Bá as “Umbrella Academy at its finest,” the new series picks up directly after the events of Hotel Oblivion, where all of The Umbrella Academy’s greatest villains have been released. But the most dangerous foe the siblings face isn’t their old enemies; it’s their other brothers and sisters known as The Sparrows.

That name will be familiar to fans of the Netflix series as they were the other set of superpowered siblings that served as both allies and enemies to the time-displaced Umbrella Academy during season three of the show. How closely The Umbrella Academy: Part B will follow the plot of the show is uncertain at this point. We won’t find out until it goes on sale at comic book shops around the world on June 11, 2025.

The Umbrella Academy: Part B is due to go on sale in June 2025 and is the first new Umbrella Academy comic book to be released since Hotel Oblivion in 2018-2019. It is currently available to preorder from local comic book shops.
