Daredevil: Born Again gets a release date (and a reduced episode count) from Disney+ and Marvel in 2025
Our radar sense is saying that Charlie Cox's return as Marvel's hornhead is going to be a big deal
Almost a decade after it happened the first time, Matt Murdock is headlining his own Marvel TV show with Marvel announcing that Daredevil: Born Again — the much-anticipated series rebooting the character inside the MCU — will debut on Disney+ in March 2025.
The new series, announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, was initially announced as an 18-episode season that would see Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio return as Daredevil and Kingpin, respectively, from their earlier Netflix incarnation of the characters. The series was explicitly a reboot of the character, as opposed to a continuation of the Netflix series, which had been deemed officially non-canonical by Marvel Studios.
Of course, that subject proved to be a thorny topic — but by January 2024, the Netflix shows were officially back in continuity with the new series an extension of what went before - a development that likely thrilled Charlie Cox, based on subsequent comments the actor has made.
While all of that was going on, Marvel Studios significantly reworked the series, releasing the original writers and directors as the show refocused and essentially starting over with a new direction. As a result, the length of the series has changed, with the show now confirmed to run nine episodes in its opening season as opposed to 18.
As part of this reworking, the show slipped out of its original Spring 2024 release slot, but has now been confirmed to launch a year later — in the process, become one of Marvel’s big tentpoles in its revised, reduced release schedule.
