The Marvel Universe is growing… at least, it is at California’s Disneyland.

Speaking at the opening event for Disney’s D23 Expo 2022 in Anaheim, California, Disney CEO Bob Chapek mentioned that the Avengers Campus attraction at Disney California Adventure will soon be expanded. “Today, I’m excited to announce that the Avengers Campus at Disney’s California Adventure is going deeper into the multiverse,” he told the crowd. “To do that, we’re going to be expanding Avengers Campus, and the heart of this new area will be a sensational new attraction. Guests will be able to battle alongside super heroes and villains from anywhere."

Later in the D23 Expo weekend, it was revealed that it will be an interactive attractive set firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe where heroes and villains will fight each other, as well as a new MCU character named King Thanos.

Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure is one of two such Campuses in a Disney attraction — the other is in Disneyland Paris, with a third in development for Hong Kong Disneyland — based on Marvel characters, and created in collaboration between Walt Disney Imagineering and Marvel. Currently, the event includes areas based on the Avengers, Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Spider-Man. The California location was the first to open, doing so in July 2021.

More information about the expansion will be revealed during the A Boundless Future: Disney Parks Experiences and Products panel on Sunday morning at the event, led by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products Chairman Josh D’Amaro.
