In case there’s any possibility that viewers missed it in Dune: Part Two in theaters earlier this year, the first teaser for Max’s spin-off series, Dune: Prophecy wants to make sure that everyone gets it: the Bene Gesserit aren’t the good guys in the story.
The new series, set to debut later this year on the streamer, is set 10,000 years before Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed sci-fi epics, and tells the story of the origins of the Bene Gesserit, with two very familiar faces being responsible for the formation of the sect: Emily Watson (Chernobyl, Breaking the Waves) and Olivia Williams (The Crown, Hanna) — both of whom are playing Harkonnens, of all families.

The series has Alison Schapker (Westworld, Altered Carbon) as showrunner and executive producer, alongside a number of other EPs including Jon Spats, who co-wrote both Dune and Dune: Part Two with Villeneuve. Brian Herbert, son of Dune creator Frank Herbert and current custodian of all things to do with the property, is also onboard the project as an executive producer, with his writing partner Kevin Anderson serving as a producer.
Dune: Prophecy is set to debut on Max this fall. Take a look at the trailer below and ask yourself: if the plans started 10,000 years before Paul Atreides was even born, how far do the plans reach into the future?
