Trying to rally together institutional support identify appropriate content for students and share resources to meet regularly can be difficult. Hear firsthand experiences from educators and artists who have created a space both in-person and online for reading discussing and teaching these kinds of texts. STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts Math) education has become the norm for curriculum across the country. Often, it starts too late. Out-of-school learning is imperative for children. It is important for them to start STEAM education at a young age in order to establish their own learning path. Who better to get them safely on that path than a bunch of superheroes? The merger of STEAM-based learning comics and cosplay is a natural fit. It opens the world of STEAM to the very young in a way that is hands-on accessible and engaging. The art of cosplay covers many of the basic tenets of STEAM curriculum. Teaching children utilizing cosplay can be a strong bridge between formal and informal learning.
