Final Fantasy's weepiest protagonist Clive Rosfield dries his eyes and joins Tekken 8
It won't just be Ifrit who will come along with Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfield to Tekken 8

The gaming world is a better place with Final Fantasy XVI's Clive Rosfield in it. If you ask me, more men should be allowed to cry in video games and offline. If a huge, muscular man who can transform himself into an enormous burning kaiju like Clive can weep and grieve his losses, then I should be able to shed a tear or two without judgment while watching a poignant nature documentary.
While Clive may have spent the most dramatic moments of Final Fantasy XVI crying (thanks to a moving performance by actor Ben Starr), he's joining the cast of fighting game Tekken 8 with nary a tear in sight. New footage from Tekken 8 spotlights Clive's moves, harkening back to some of his most stylish maneuvers from Final Fantasy XVI. If you remember, Clive was able to absorb the power of other Dominants' Eikons after defeating them, imbuing him with a new set of abilities. All of that is on display here.
It's also clear that Clive won't be alone in his foray into Tekken. On some attacks, he brings out his trusty dog, Torgal, a sweet callback to how you could command "sic 'em, Torgal!" to the hound while fighting your enemies in Final Fantasy XVI. Clive's Eikon, Ifrit, also makes an appearance in the video, because the man isn't complete without his flaming other half.
Clive Rosfield isn't the first Final Fantasy character to appear in a fighting game. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate featured Final Fantasy VII's Cloud Strife. Way back in 1998, Ehrgeiz featured Final Fantasy VII characters like Cloud, Tifa Lockhart, Sephiroth, Yuffie Kisaragi, Vincent Valentine, and Zack Fair. It's good to see a character who isn't from Final Fantasy VII make the jump to other games. As much as I love to see Cloud and Tifa, there will always be a part of me that yearns for Clive.
