Magic the Gathering is making an Avatar: The Last Airbender set, and we already want an army of flying bison

The Avatar set was announced during MagicCon Chicago 2025

As if a new series set in the period after The Legend of Korra wasn’t enough to thrill fans of Avatar: The Last Airbender, MagicCon Chicago 2025 brought the news that Wizards of the Coast's Magic The Gathering and Nickelodeon will be collaborating on an Avatar: The Last Airbender set, arriving in stores in time for the 2025 holiday season.

Few details were actually revealed about the Avatar: The Last Airbender set beyond a release date of November 21, 2025. Official details were promised to follow in the coming months, although Wizards of the Coast’s website already has a listing for the collaboration that reads, “Bend the battlefield with Magic cards from Avatar: The Last Airbender! Master the elements and join your favorite characters for new adventures, iconic art, an elemental showdown like never before.” (Said website also features the fun tagline, "Water. Earth. Fire. Air... Magic.")

The Avatar: The Last Airbender set follows announcements for similar licensing deals with Marvel and Lord of the Rings. It seems that, if we wait long enough, there might be a MTG set for everyone, no matter their fandom. How long until we get a Simpsons set? (I'm only half-joking...)

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
