Larian Studios might be done with Baldur's Gate 3, but Hasbro definitely isn't
Hasbro knows that Baldur's Gate has never been bigger than right now and they're trying to find the right way to use that momentum.

More than a year after Baldur’s Gate 3 came out, it is still attracting huge numbers of fans. There are thousands of people around the world playing at any given moment, which would usually guarantee that Larian Studios would be diving into DLC, expansion packs, and an inevitable sequel, but they decided to go a different direction. With Larian fully committed to leaving Baldur’s Gate 3 behind them, Hasbro, owner of the series and the Dungeons & Dragons system that it runs on, desperately wants someone else to pick it up and run with it.
The fact that Hasbro, the parent company of D&D publisher Wizards of the Coast, is interested in more Baldur’s Gate 3 isn’t exactly surprising. According to Dan, Ayoub, SVP of digital games at Hasbro, there are “a lot of people very interested in Baldur’s Gate.”
He isn’t talking about how we’re all interested in finishing our latest Dark Urge playthrough, either. He’s talking about other developers stepping in to take the franchise forward. “We’re kind of working out our plans for the future and what we’re going to be doing with that. And actually, in pretty short order, we’re going to have some stuff to talk about around that.”
When Larian announced that they were walking away from Baldur’s Gate 3, it was a shock to pretty much everyone who has been following the game for so long. They were basically leaving money on the table by not dishing out new adventures with the characters or even a full sequel. Hasbro is obviously going to want to move forward with those projects, but now they need to find a game developer who can replicate the remarkable success that Larian had with Baldur’s Gate 3.
You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
