Baldur’s Gate III has been celebrated for its queer representation. The 2023 role-playing video game is the winner of numerous Gayming Awards, including Best LGBTQ Character for Shadowheart. There are plenty of reasons to celebrate, but according to Shadowheart actor Jennifer English, there is still work to be done.
The Baldur’s Gate III cast was recently asked about the game’s queer representation, and English took the opportunity to drop some truth bombs. “As a queer person I’m going to answer this one,” English says during a Baldur's Gate 3 panel at Emerald City Comic Con 2025.
“It’s great, really really proud of it. Of course, I feel like with every game there could be more. And I feel like Larian has set a really beautiful example, but I would like there to be a hell of a lot more, because the games I’m seeing at the moment are not queer enough. Having met a lot of you know, there’s quite a lot of queer people in gaming and it seems to me that we’re being slept on quite a lot. So more. More.”
