One of Civilization 5, 6, and 7's best fan modders has been hired by Firaxis as it says its entering a new age

One of Civilization's top fan modders has been recruited by the game developer to work on Civ 7 and beyond.

Firaxis' Civilization VII is one of the best-selling games of the year so far, but that doesn't mean it doesn't benefit from some improvement. The Civilization franchise has a very active fanbase with a group of talented modders, so Firaxis is pulling from that pool to hire its next Tech Artist.

In a post on the official Civ 7 Discord server titled "Entering our Sukritact Age...," Firaxis' community manager Sarah Engel announced "that Sukritact has officially joined Firaxis as our latest Tech Artist."

Sukritact - who goes by the name Sukrit 'Act' Tan online - is known in the Civ community for his well-received mod work on Civ VI's UI, specifically the 'Global Relations panel' and 'Simple UI Adjustments' mods. He's also created several real-life buildings to be included in your Civ games, including the Notre-Dame de Paris, Wat Arun, and more.

"Waaaaay back in high school, I started modding Civilization 5, and honestly, that's what started me down this path of working in game dev," Tan writes on Bluesky. "So today, I am beyond thrilled to be able to say that I've just joined Firaxis as a Technical Artist!"

Now with him doing this full-time, and being paid for it, we're excited to see what he'll bring to Civilization VII - and Firaxis' future games.
