Conan O'Brien wants to be in the next Diablo game so he can find out what you really think of him

“If I’m in Diablo, people will get to decide if I live or die very quickly,” O'Brien explained to Blizzard Entertainment's president during a panel at SXSW.

Conan O’Brien is known for many things, but something you might just be discovering about the on-again-off-again late-night show and Oscar host is that he’s an avid gamer. He picked up the habit more than a decade ago and never let it go. Over the weekend, he used his panel at SXSW to make an unusual request of Blizzard Entertainment president Johanna Faries – Conan O’Brien wants to be in the next Diablo game.

“I want to be in Diablo,” Conan O’Brien said to Faries during the panel. “I want to be a demon or a necromancer. My wife, when she met me, thought I was a necromancer.” We’re not sure what that says about Conan O’Brien’s marriage, but we’re sure she meant it as a term of endearment.

It isn’t just about getting to hear himself in Diablo; Conan O’Brien wants to use it as a litmus test for what people really think about him. After joking that he will often anonymously ask online players what they think of Conan O’Brien because we never grow out of needing a bit of validation from people online.

“If I’m in Diablo, people will get to decide if I live or die very quickly,” he said.

“No, we’ll get the writers on this,” Faries responded.

Whether that was a legitimate offer or just to get O’Brien to chill out, we’ll have to wait to see. Just don’t be surprised if a demon in the next Diablo game asks your opinion about a certain late-night talk show host. At the very least, it should give Blizzard something to announce at the upcoming BlizzCon in 2026.
