Roll Hope, adventurer: Daggerheart's release date has been revealed

Fantasy TTRPG fans can get their hands on the Darrington Press-produced game May 20, 2025, provided they ordered from Darrington Press directly

At long last, fans of tabletop gaming know when they'll be able to play their next fantasy TTRPG obsession, as publisher Darrington Press has revealed that Daggerheart's release date is May 20 for anyone who pre-orders the game through their site. Darrington also revealed that, for gamers who choose to pre-order through another source or purchase the game via another TTRPG-provider, the release date will be June 3.

"We are so thrilled to announce Daggerheart will officially be released May 20th, 2025!" reads Darrington Press's official press release. "Years in the making, thousands of characters created and beta games played, uncountable edits, tweaks, and adjustments and now it is here. Thank you all for everything, all the comments, playtests, and feedback forms—this game would not be the amazing game it is without you."

Popverse readers will recall our coverage of Daggerheart at last year's PAX Unplugged, when we talked about both the campaign reminiscent of popular anime Delicious in Dungeon and the campaign designed by Critical Role's Matthew Mercer, who promised "a dark, challenging, very grim" setting for his story, Age of Umbra. Now, fans are that much closer to experiencing both the silly and sinister sides of Daggerheart for themselves.

Pre-orders for the TTRPG have been open for a little while now, and with the release date officially announced, we expect those to pick up. You can get in on the swarm by either visiting the Darrington Press official site or by pre-ordering your copy of the Daggerheart Core Set on Amazon now. If you choose the latter option, orders won't start shipping out until the aforementioned June 3 date, but for those of us that use Amazon Prime, saving on the shipping may be worth it.

Not that we're telling you what to do, of course. Daggerheart, as Matthew Mercer explained, is all about empower the players to create their own kind of gaming experience. And we suppose getting that game delivered is part of it.

Daggerheart will be shipping out from Darrington Press May 20, and available wherever TTRPGs are sold June 3.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
