Let’s be honest – we all love killing zombies. It is one of those simple, universal truths among gamers. Few games give you as many zombies to kill as the appropriately named Killing Floor series. With Killing Floor 3’s release date just around the corner, we’re excited to dive back in and find new and exciting ways to make Zeds explode.
Unlike Killing Floor 2, the third entry in the series is expected to have a darker, grittier feel to it. Tripwire Interactive has said that it will not have any outlandish weapons or gadgets and will instead feel more grounded, bringing it closer in tone to the first game. Killing Floor 3 will launch on PlayStation and Xbox consoles as well as PC in 2025. Previously, the game was expected to launch in March 2025 but the developers pushed it back after a closed beta revealed that fans weren't happy with the game's current state.
One thing that isn’t changing with Killing Floor 3 is the structure of the game. Players are still in a four-player co-op match where waves of zombies (called Zeds in the setting) attack. Between each wave, players can upgrade their equipment and catch their breath before going back for more. There are more enemies in later waves and the final wave is a powerful boss that requires quick reflexes and lots of practice to beat. There will also be optional objectives to complete that will flesh out the lore of the Killing Floor setting, though we don’t need any in-depth lore dumps when there are zombies to shoot.
Killing Floor 3 will be released in 2025 and will launch for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles.
You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
