We just play Marvel Rivals for the plot, we swear

Marvel Rivals owes a lot of its DNA to what Overwatch did before. Both are frantic team shooters focusing on the clever use of powers in fights between heroes and villains. But it isn’t just the gameplay that Marvel Rivals “borrowed” from Overwatch; both also have a selection of beautifully rendered backsides to capture our attention. Our collective thirst for Invisible Woman is something that the developers of Marvel Rivals have cheekily acknowledged, and they have the stats to back it up.

“When we announced Fantastic Four, the Google searches for Invisible Woman went up 3000% in that period,” Danny Koo, executive producer at Marvel Games, explained at GDC over the weekend. While this isn’t solely explained by the fact that they clearly spent a lot of time lovingly sculpting her butt for the game, we all know what the deal is. In fact, we checked on the stats ourselves just to be sure:

There you have the Google Trends data for the past 12 months of the terms “Invisible Woman” and “Mr Fantastic” which shows the obvious spike in search traffic as everyone simultaneously went “Damn!” as we saw Invisible Woman’s model in Marvel Rivals. While Mr. Fantastic has always enjoyed a healthy amount of traffic, Invisible Woman was practically flatlined – until February 8, when NetEase shared the first footage of her in the game Marvel Rivals.

Listen, we’re not here to judge. We just want you to know that, if you’ve found yourself with an insatiable thirst for Invisible Woman, you’re not alone and also the Marvel Rivals developers know what you’re about.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
