One of the big changes to the current season of Marvel Snap is the addition of Character Mastery. On its most basic level, Character Mastery in Marvel Snap is a fun way to customize your deck and gain new cosmetics for the cards you use the most. If you’re struggling to wrap your head around how to use this new feature and what impact it has on the game, here is everything you need to know about Character Mastery in Marvel Snap.
Character Mastery was added in the Captain America: Brave New World season of Marvel Snap, to help players give their decks a unique flare. Each card has its own progression system which can be advanced by earning Mastery XP.
How to gain Mastery XP in Marvel Snap
Currently, there are two ways to earn Mastery XP in Marvel Snap; acquiring new variants of cards or performing Infinity Splits. Each card requires a total of 1300 Master XP to unlock every cosmetic, which is a daunting task.
Here is a breakdown of every variant level and how much Mastery XP you will earn for each one:
- Splits: 15 XP
- Rare Variants: 25 XP
- Super Rare Variants: 75 XP
- Spotlight Variants: 125 XP
- Season Pass Variants: 125 XP
- Bundle Variants: 125 XP
- Album Variants: 125 XP
- Conquest Variants: 125 XP
- Event Variants: 125 XP
- Ultimate Variants: 250 XP
As you can see, it will take a long time to max out the Character Mastery for a single card, let alone multiple ones in your deck.
What are Flares and Finishes in Marvel Snap?
You use your Mastery XP to unlock Mastery Caches, which are loot boxes that reward you with randomly assorted cosmetics for a character. There are three different tiers of Mystery Caches, with higher tiers offering a better chance of getting rarer cosmetics. These rewards are categorized as Flares and Finishes.
Flares are effects that change how the card looks in its 3D space. It basically adds a layer on top of or around your card to make it look different as it is moved. There are currently a total of 45 Flares in Marvel Snap.
Finishes are similar to foiling on traditional cards. They change the background of your card, either by replacing the art or changing it entirely. There are currently 27 Finishes available in Marvel Snap.
While you can spend as much time grinding for Mastery XP to unlock all of these cosmetics, you can only equip one of them at a time. Ultimately, none of the Character Mastery rewards in Marvel Snap will change any gameplay as they are purely there for cosmetic purposes.
We can't give you extra life, but we can keep you appraised of all the Marvel Snap codes currently available - updated weekly! - as well as the rarest Marvel Snap cards.
