Everyone has got March Madness this time of year. There is no greater tradition in America than throwing everything into a bracket and seeing who comes out on top. Marvel Snap is getting in on the action by letting fans vote for their favorite cards. One matchup saw Uncle Ben taking on his greatest nemesis. We’re talking, of course, about Death herself.

No matter the universe, Uncle Ben exists only to be killed so that Spider-Man can go on to accept his great responsibility. Even his card in Marvel Snap is only really effective if he is killed, so who else would be a suitable match-up for Uncle Ben than Death, who, you’ll remember, is an actual character in the Marvel Universe.

For their March Madness bracket, the Marvel Snap social media team pitted Uncle Ben against Death and gave fans the chance to choose who should win. Would this be the one time that Uncle Ben survives? Could he finally overcome Death and contribute to his own story for a change? No. He lost in the polling with only 27.3% of the votes. Sorry, Ben. You’re only interesting when you’re dead after all.

Other matchups are a bit fairer – Thanos vs. Ultron, for example, though it was just as one-sided in Thanos’ favor. The next round of Marvel Snap’s March Madness brackets sees Death take on Galactus and Thanos against Alioth. Who is going to come out on top? Certainly not Uncle Ben. Poor guy can’t catch a break.
