Well, that's a stealth fail: The Playstation Store just leaked the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater release date early

As the Metal Gear Solid Delta release leaks, we're wondering: not that we're complaining, Solid Snake, but isn't carefully avoiding traps and handling sensitive info kind of, like, your whole deal?

Great news for gamers, bad news for whoever Metal Gear hired for their security. The release date for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has reportedly leaked online via the PlayStation Store, though it remains officially unconfirmed by Konami. Whether it's an accident or some very stealthy marketing we may never know, but we do know that fans of the Metal Gear franchise will be playing Snake Eater on August 28, 2025.

The story comes to us via Eurogamer, who wrote about the leak on February 6. As the outlet points out, it could be that this release date was meant to be unveiled at the 2025 State of Play, which is rumored to be taking place later this month. It's unlikely that Konami will confirm that, in any case, so we may just have to be alright with not knowing exactly how the release date came to us.

What we can know, however, is what fans should expect from the next Metal Gear game. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a remake of 2004's original Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, the third game in the franchise and what is widely considered to be one of the best entries. The game is a prequel to other entries in the franchise, centering on the character of Naked Snake (Don't laugh), who will later be known as Big Boss (Still don't laugh).
