We've been waiting to live out our Hobbiton fantasies for years, so we're very excited to play Tales of the Shire on Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC this year.

We’ve all looked at the Hobbits in Lord of the Rings and thought, “This is a group that has their priorities right.” No adventures. No drama. Just second breakfast in their little hillside homes. That is the promise of Tales of the Shire, a farming and life sim due out in March 2025.

The demo was released back in September 2024, but the full version of Tales of the Shire won’t be out until March 25, 2025. The entire premise of the game is living a comfortable, relaxed life in The Shire while farming and interacting with other hobbits. There is no War of the Ring to contend with. No Ring Wraiths stalking through the night. Just working the land and avoiding any nasty adventures.

For fans of the farming sim genre, there is no setting cozier than The Shire. That was the whole point of The Shire in the original books; they were a comfortable, safe place that the heroes were forced to leave to have their adventures. Giving you the chance to build a home among the hobbits doing what they were always meant to do. There is farming, cooking, fishing, and the chance to decorate your own hobbit hole. It should be the ideal low-stakes gaming experience.

Tales of the Shire is due out on March 25, 2025 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles and PC. The life sim game focuses on the most twee and comforting area of Middle-earth to let players live their best hobbit lives. Second breakfast included.

You don't need to beat the game to prepare for the next one—here are all the major new and upcoming games coming our way.
