Ghosts' undead cast banded together to ensure pay parity (and a pay raise) ahead of the show's third season

After a rehearsal walkout, the ghosts on the show received a significant uptick in pay per episode

A sign that CBS is well aware of just how successful supernatural sitcom Ghosts actually is — and how important the show is to the network — came in late 2023, when the cast received a significant pay bump ahead of the third season.

According to reports, the show’s central living cast — Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar — had their paychecks double to around $250,000 per episode, while the ghostly cast of Brandon Scott Jones, Richie Moriarty, Danielle Pinnock, Asher Grodman, Román Zaragoza, Sheila Carrasco, Rebecca Wisocky, and Devan Chandler Long each saw their episodic rates hit $100,000.

That last part is particularly noteworthy, given that prior to the raise, the ghosts were all making different amounts estimated to be somewhere in the $35,000-$55,000 per episode range. Sources inside the production suggested that the group’s raises came after the ghosts staged a walk-out during rehearsals for the third season, following the news that only McIver and Ambudkar had initially been given pay bumps.

Ghosts, which is produced for CBS by CBS Studios, Lionsgate television, and BBC Studios — the show is an adaptation/remake of the British original, which aired on the BBC — has become an important part of CBS’s line-up since its 2021 debut; the second season proved more successful than the first, including an impressive streaming audience for the network. It’s no surprise that CBS is looking to lock its cast in for as long as possible… at least as long as the original version’s five seasons.

Ghosts Season 3 debuts on CBS February 15.
