The Andor saga ends with season 2 and Visions returns for season 3: Everything you can expect from Star Wars in 2025
More Star Wars is coming not so long from now, and not so far away, with Disney's and Lucasfilm's Andor season 2 and Visions season 3 coming 2025. We've got everything you need to know (including release dates) right here
Popverse's top stories of the day
- Netflix's Delicious in Dungeon season 1 ending was originally much more open - until they greenlit season 2 mid-production
- WATCH: Is Max's Harley Quinn adapting Batman: Under the Red Hood? The season 5 trailer seems to say yes, albeit with some tweaks
- Godzilla shares a secret history with the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man and the rest of the Marvel Universe, and we'll get to see it all unfold throughout 2025
Star Wars fans are famous for arguing over the quality of what their favorite franchise puts out, but none of them can ever say they suffer for lack of quantity. There are new Star Wars TV shows and movies released every year, and with a new calendar about to be ushered in, it appears 2025 will be no exception. Because we're all about Star Wars guides here at Popverse, we of course took the opportunity to take you through all of those impending trips to the Galaxy Far, Far Away, but let us warn you before we begin: though there's more Star Wars coming in 2025, it might not be as much as in previous years. Here's the full list, in case you don't believe us:
- April 22 - Andor, season 2
- TBD - Visions, season 3
Yes, just two Star Wars await fans for next year, and as you'll no doubt notice neither of them will be making it into the theaters. Still, we've got a breakdown of what you can expect out of the dual projects, and in case that isn't enough for you, you can always head over and check out our full list of every upcoming Star Wars project on the horizon.
Upcoming Star Wars TV series: Andor season 2 (April 22, 2025)
The upside to the low Midichlorian count of next year's film and TV calendar is that both of the Star Wars projects coming out have been hailed as some of the best in recent memory. Case in point, Andor, which will return for its second season in April of 2025. Starring Deigo Luna as the titular revolutionary that we first met in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the show's first season ended with a shocking reveal about a certain planet-killing device.
Something that's been highly praised about the show is its pace of storytelling, and unfortunately, the creative team's commitment to keeping that pacing tight means that this second season of Andor will be its last. Ah well, with 12 hour-long episodes apiece for two seasons, Andor technically is more Star Wars than all the Skywalker Saga movies combined.
Whether it's better than the Skywalker Saga, well, that's not for us to say. Mainly because we don't want to get beat up.
Upcoming Star Wars TV series: Visions season 3 (TBD 2025)
And coming at a yet-unspecified date in 2025 is another Star Wars show that's received extant critical praise, though for a very different reason than the one above. Star Wars Visions is the franchise's first foray into anime, offering up 9 animated episodes per season that are largely self-contained stories, with a looser canonicity than you might find in the Disney+ live-action TV shows.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in November of this year that Visions would be back for a third season in 2025, which gives us reason to believe that we won't see the anime return for a while yet, certainly not before Andor wraps up its story. To give that a bit more context, the second season of Visions was announced at the Star Wars Celebration in May of 2022, and it wasn't until May 4, 2023 that fans caught the first episode.
If the pattern remains the same, this means we might just be seeing Visions season three air in November of 2025.
Don't go tweeting about that as if it's set in stone, though - it's only our best guess, educated though it may be. Unlike certain powerful Sith Lords, we can't bend life to our will just because we really want soemthing.
What's that? You've never heard the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise?
Same, actually. I skipped that scene.
