Henry Cavill promises to outdo his Witcher swordwork with Highlander reboot
Chad Stahelski's Highlander reboot doesn't have a release date yet, but inspired a few comments from Cavill at CinemaCon
Popverse's top stories of the day
- Peter Pan is finally growing up in new sequel called The Last Boy - but he is fighting it all the way

- Star Wars' John Boyega is coming to Chicago's C2E2 2025
Henry Cavill seems to be everywhere nowadays, and that has never been more apparent than when he appeared at Lionsgate's presentation at CinemaCon 2024 to discuss the upcoming Guy Ritchie movie The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (which debuts later this month), another new Guy Ritchie movie In the Grey (which nabbed a January 2025 release date during the presentation), and the Chad Stahelski Highlander reboot he's going to be starring in.
Of course, it's still very early days for Highlander, which is aiming for a 2026 release year (but doesn't have an official release date yet), but Cavill was able to tease that the team behind the reboot "are going deep into the meaning of these characters and their various trials and tribulations." He shared that he was definitely a fan of of the original movie "for better or worse."

As for the action that fans can expect, this is what former-Witcher (which was a very sword-heavy role) Cavill had to say: "If you thought you’d seen me do sword work before, you haven’t seen anything yet."
The original Highlander film - which featured a group of immortal warriors fighting for supremacy in the shadows of the regular world - first debuted in 1986 and was directed by Russell Mulcahy and starred Christopher Lambert, Roxanne Hart, Clancy Brown, and Sean Connery.
More news on Highlander to come as it breaks.
