Horror authors Joe Hill, Grady Hendrix, Stephen Graham Jones, Catriona Ward, and Owen King are bring their next stories exclusively to Amazon Kindle

Amazon wants to scare you in a good way - and not with these low prices

Prepare to be scared again illuminated only by the light of your tablet, as five of top modern horror writers are teaming up to do a series of short stories exclusively for Amazon's Kindle app. Joe Hill, Grady Hendrix, Stephen Graham Jones, Catriona Ward, and Owen King all have stories in a themed collection from Amazon Original Stories called The Shivers. And while it sounds like a short story anthology, it's not - you can buy them individually for $1.99 each.

Amazon describes The Shivers as "a collection of haunting stories that reveal the otherworldly terrors all around us. Once you know, there’s no going back. Read or listen to each story in one unsettling sitting." Unfortunately, details on the audiobook editions of these (including the narrators) has not been announced by Amazon as of yet.

Here's what is coming for The Shivers:

There are descriptions for each story at the links above. While I recommend them all from the descriptions alone (and that price!), Ward's Night and Day in Misery sounds like my kind of horror.

“Room 17 was the last stop on her husband and son’s journey. Eight years after their deaths, Stella books the same room, hoping to commune with their memories," reads Amazon's description of Night and Day in Misery. "But as she tries to sleep, disturbing and urgent visions blur the lines between reality and the supernatural, and the other side sends a terrifying message.”

All five stories in The Shivers collection are set to be released April 15, again for $1.99 each.

Here are all the major upcoming prose books on the horizon.
