One Piece light novel detailing Trafalgar Law's backstory is finally coming to the West in Fall 2025
The novel was first published in April 2020, so we've waited more than five years to read this piece of One Piece lore.

When a series has been going as long as One Piece has, it is going to amass some pretty iconic characters. Trafalgar Law has enough of a fanbase to have gotten his own light novel in Japan, but English-speaking fans have had to wait years to get an official localization. Now, Viz is bringing our wait to an end as they announce One Piece: Law’s Story will be coming out in the West in Fall 2025.
Originally published in serial form and collected in a single novel in April 2020, One Piece: Law’s Story covers how Trafalgar Law formed the Heart Pirates and became known as the Surgeon of Death. Though the events depicted in the novel are considered non-canon because they weren’t written by Eiichiro Oda himself, they flesh out the backstory of one of One Piece’s most interesting side characters.
Viz announced on social media that they would finally be publishing One Piece: Law’s Story in English, more than five years after the story was published in Japanese. The announcement doesn’t give a specific release date; instead, it only says that the novel will be released in Fall 2025. This version collects all four chapters that were published in One Piece Magazine between 2018 and 2020 as well as the epilogue that was included in the published version.
The novel One Piece: Law’s Story is set to be published in Fall 2025 by Viz, bringing another part of One Piece lore to the West more than five years after it originally landed in Japan.
