V.E. Schwab described her new book as being about "toxic lesbian vampires" and we love it already
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil is due out in June 2025, which is not soon enough for our liking.

In publishing, there is something called an elevator pitch. Normally, it is a sentence or two that an author uses to describe a book, trying to get an agent, publisher, or reader excited for the novel in as few words as possible. There is an art to making the perfect elevator pitch, but no one is going to beat V.E. Schwab’s pitch for her upcoming novel. We have three words for you – “toxic lesbian vampires.”
Those were the words that the author used to describe Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil to those in the audience for her MCM London 2024 panel. According to the Shades of Magic writer, her next book is the scariest she’s written, following three young women across more than 500 years. V.E. Schwab was suitably secretive about the actual plot, but she did drop the news that Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil takes place in the same world as The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. That, combined with the “toxic lesbian vampires” line has it right up at the top of our To Read list for next year when it comes out.
V.E. Schwab also described Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soul as the “feral older sister of Addie” which is not doing anything to dampen our excitement for this book. While it might not have appeared in stories in time for Halloween (Schwab mentioned a June 2025 release date during her panel), everyone can agree that feralness is its own reward at any time of the year.
