People keep giving Baldur's Gate 3 actors sex toys as presents and we don't know why

We didn't know we needed to say this but this isn't okay, folks.

We’re not saying that Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have boundary issues, but there is a strange trend emerging that we feel we need to talk about. During the Heroes of Baldur’s Gate panel at MCM London in October 2024, not one but two actors from the video game disclosed that they have been given sex toys and other paraphernalia by fans and we’re baffled by this behavior.

When a guest asked the cast the strangest thing they had been given by fans, Jennifer English, who played Shadowheart in Baldur’s Gate 3, hesitated for a moment before saying that she was given a vibrator – not in its original packaging – by a fan at a convention. We’re not here to shame anyone but you probably shouldn’t give people you don’t know sex toys. To make matters worse, Karlach’s actor, Samantha Béart, was given nearly out-of-date lube by a fan at a previous convention.

The cast laughed off the incidents while they were on the MCM London Main Stage, but English’s recollection of the event was clearly one of discomfort. We honestly didn’t know we needed to say this but you shouldn’t give someone you don’t know a sex toy. Actors come to these events and most of their interactions with fans are positive; don’t be the one that ruins their trip to a convention by giving them something that is going to become an awkward story they recount on stage in coming years. Otherwise, they are going to stop coming to see us and we’ll all miss out.
