Batman to receive his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame (He's more than earned it)

DC's Dark Knight will be accompanied by DC publisher and president Jim Lee at the ceremony in Los Angeles September 26

The latest star on the legendary Hollywood Walk of Fame belongs to someone who traditionally shuns the limelight, even though his name is known all around the world — but that claim could be made by so many fellow Walk of Fame stars. There is one thing that makes him stand out from his stellar brethren, however: he’s not even real. In celebration of his 85th birthday, DC’s Batman will receive the 2,790th star on the Walk of Fame — and he’ll be there in person for the occasion.

Well, someone dressed as Batman, at least. The faux Caped Crusader won’t be the only one in attendance for the September 26 event in front of the Hollywood Guinness World Records Museum; he’ll be joined by DC president, publisher, and chief creative officer Jim Lee, as well as DC senior vice president and general manager, Anne DePies, both of whom will be on-hand as Batman received not just his own star — which, in a very sweet moment, will be dedicated next to the star of Adam West, who played the character from 1966 through 1969, as well as the star of his co-creator Bob Kane — but also the Guinness World Records title for the first superhero with a star on the Walk of Fame.

That’s not the only Batman-centric event taking place in LA that day; Funko Hollywood — located at 6201 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028 — will be hosting a special all-day event to accompany the Walk of Fame ceremony, with Jim Lee in attendance for an hour-long signing between 11:30am and 12:30pm. Those wishing to attend that signing need to get a wristband for the event by purchasing a Batman product at the store two days earlier, September 24. (Wristbands are on a first-come, first-served basis, with one wristband per purchase, according to Funko.)

If this isn’t enough Dark Knight for you — or, perhaps, you don’t live in Los Angeles — don’t forget that Batman Day 2024 is coming up September 21, to fill your nights with crimefighting wonder.
