Tiny Onion is planning a big deal for the Big Apple later this month. Across the four days of New York Comic Con 2024 — five, if you include the industry-only Retailer Day programming on Wednesday, October 16 — James Tynion IV’s production house is going to be very busy, with a booth (#HB907!) and multiple panels, signings, exclusive merchandise and… a brand-new newspaper.
Yes, a newspaper.
Subscribers to the Empire of the Tiny Onion newsletter got a sneak peek at this last week, but Tiny Onion is releasing its very own newspaper. Yes, a physical newspaper available for just one U.S. dollar at both the Tiny Onion booth and at a newspaper stand beside the official NYCC merch booth at the show. Titled Tiny Onion Presents — or T.O.P. for short — the newspaper is a “celebration of print,” as the studio describes it, mixing comic strips with all-new articles including a retrospective on Tiny Onion to date, a look at the success of indie publisher Silver Sprocket, and an interview with creators Josh Hixson and Tyler Boss, which… well. That sounds like fun. Want to get an early exclusive sneak peek of that one?

"T.O.P. serves a lot of functions,” Tiny Onion founder James Tynion IV told Popverse. “We wanted people to get a feeling for the personality of the Tiny Onion team. We wanted people to have a fun place they can hear about our next big swings before anybody else. We wanted to make a product for comic conventions that feels really exclusive and special. But most importantly, we made T.O.P. to show our readership how much we love the full breadth of the comics medium."
Talking of comics, maybe it'd be fun to show off Jenna Cha's contribution to the issue, too:
