Rose McIver will don her director’s cap in the upcoming season of Ghosts for one episode, as she revealed at the Ghosts panel at New York Comic Con 2024.

One of the beautiful things about the television medium is after a show gets a few seasons under its belt, directing duties can get opened up to the stars of the show. After all, the cast of the show has spent hours and hours on set, and intimately know the ins and outs of running a production. At New York Comic Con, Ghosts star Rose McIver, who plays Samantha on the show, revealed that she will direct an episode of the hit CBS comedy series in its upcoming fourth season.

The actress quipped, “I’m very excited to put on a little old fashioned beret… I’ll take up smoking, scream at my cast, have a megaphone, it’s going to be great.”

On a more serious note, McIver talked about what drew her to taking on directing duties. “I am fortunate enough to work in episodic television for a very long time now, I love the way it works. It’s chaos, especially when the show is airing while you’re filming, aside from the creativity, there’s a lot of people management skills and diplomacy, and maybe I’m trying to turn into Samantha a little, just to have another pot on the stove. But it’s always been something that’s really interested me, and I love the process of it all.”

Hopefully as Ghosts continues on at CBS, more and more cast members will direct episodes if they so wish.  It’s been wonderful to see in other shows like Criminal Minds, where various cast members have taken turns directing.
